But let’s talk
you and me
and we may find
how alike we can see
Sworn social media enemies we may be
but that doesn’t mean I should trash everything you stand for or believe
— or maybe I should —
Let’s talk
you and me
we may not
always agree
But let’s talk
you and me
and we may learn
eye to eye to see
I may not be your evil communist in disguise
and maybe under your out-and-out fascism you are quite wise
— although I doubt it —
You may dox me and threaten me with my life
I may have to block you, and that would be all right
But let’s talk
you and me
we may not
ever agree
But let’s talk
you and me
and we may find
our common humanity
— although I doubt it

LISTENER RESPONSE
I love this song. It could apply to any situation of conflict. I was thinking initially of a couple, then to the civil rights movement in the states (of course all Blacks are communists), then to China, Russia. . . I like diplomatic solutions and creativity with lightness. That’s what your song embodies. The percussion on the guitar at the beginning is wonderful as are the drums. The horn (not sure of the precise instrument) toward the end is beautiful. The variations in voice and cadence are great. Well done!
-Elaine K., Victoria, B.C.
Great beat and the lyrics are so timely. Randy Newman would be envious. - John R., Montreal
I love the playful almost Sesame Street feeling to the song. The playfulness also shows up in the humour of the lyrics which captures the ambivalent swinging between desire and distrust. It's definitely a song for our times. And, like other songs you've put out, it is particularly prescient to the moment. Maybe it can be played in certain people's trucks! - Michael C., Toronto
Good song! You're becoming a Carole King (male version!) type singer/songwriter (prolific) but more folky. Definitely strong hints of Dave Van Ronk and Rambling Jack Elliot and all the others of that generation. Kind of feels to me like 20th century depression-era blues for the 21st century. Plus ça change etc... Anyway, nice song, good lyrics ...Nice guitar accents. As we say, good stuff! - Zav L., Montreal
I just listened, it is a fun message about how polarized and intransigent people are, and Social Media contributes heavily as information is significantly weighted in polarizing views. I love the little characters with cell phones, sign of our times. - Debra L., Montreal
Nice! Clever words!! I like the chord changes & melody.
It's got a beat & you can dance to it.The bongos are a nice touch.
Great job! - Don L., Montreal
Bravo, Brian! Well done…Quirky & cool!
*Nice production by Fast Forward, in Ndg

Very Mose Allison…. Via Maria Muldaur. - Ian H., Pierrefonds, Quebec
"Let's Talk" is super mellow considering the chaotic nature of Social Media flame wars hahaha. The way you sing (like talking - having a conversation) really suits this song. "Although I doubt it" captures the essence of internet arguments, eh? - Kaoru M., Montreal
Nice!...you're really churning out the hits these days...bravo! - Andy D., Rigaud, Quebec
I have to say that I'm deeply offended by this song, Brian. I wish I had written it! Great song and a stellar performance of both guitar work and vocals.- Peter M., Gold Canyon, Arizona (responding to FB video)
You need that sign from Woody Guthrie’s guitar!
- Michael S., Canberra, Australia
I listened from start to finish, always a good sign. I had a smile whilst listening and enjoyed the lyrics and singing, what more can you ask for? Thanks Brian! - David R., Sydney, Australia
That's what talent looks like Brian. You are an amazing guitarist and a great writer too. You inject humor into your music and we end up having fun listening . Josh R., Monterey,Calif.
Wow that was fun- great song and great presentation!
Randy W., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, US.
Loved it ... shared. This would also lend itself well to an animated You
Tube. - Chard C., Montreal
I needed this! - April F., Montreal
Has a melody reminiscent of songs I've heard from the Muppets and the singer even has a Jim Henson (Kermit the frog) cadence. So, it works! - Ravi L., Montreal
